Elkhart County is in the Northern Indiana region known as Michiana which is 20 miles east of South Bend, 110 miles east of Chicago and 150 miles north of Indianapolis. The area is commonly referred to as the recreation vehicle (RV) capital of the world because of the huge number of RV manufacturers, dealers, service centers and sellers of RV-related after-market products located in the area. But the area is also the home for many other types of industries including marine, electric vehicle, manufactured housing and musical instruments.
